The Alhambra in Granada

These were taken back in 2004 on a day trip we took to Granada to see the sights. The Alhambra is a Moorish palace and is a spectacular place to visit. These photos were all taken with a dinky little digital camera so the quality may not be the absolute best.

This is a truly amazing place to visit - especially after spending time on the Costa Del Sol. It is beautiful drive up into the mountains. We visited in March after a week of torrential rain and the city was fresh after the rain. I have no idea what it is like in the summer when there might be droves of tourists about.

The View Outside

This is the view you get on the approach in.

This is another approach view giving a hint of what's to come

A nice little orange grove inside the castle walls

This captures the view outside through some ornate windows

An Interior Arch

Column Details

Some Plasterwork

Another Arch

I think she has just eaten herself under the table

Some decorative details on a support column.

The decoration on this is supposed to be something to with an Islamic ban on representing living things

Again, more highly decorative plasterwork.

A Courtyard

An Arcade

The Battlements

A Secret Garden

This was beautifully peaceful. Very quiet.

Something to keep the rain off I suppose

This demonstrated some of the more military aspects of the palace

Back to the peace.
